Premier League

Another Day. Another Record.

And here comes Manchester City’s another club record!

Goals from David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi against nearest title rivals Manchester United helped City to create history last week. It was the City’s fourteenth consecutive victory, breaking the Premier League record, previously held by The Gunners, for the longest winning streak in a single season.

Tonight Pep Guardiola and his team breaks the record for most consecutive wins in the top-flight. Thanks to David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.

David Silva (on breaking the record): “Of course, it is special when you win so many games.

“It’s important for confidence and our confidence is high at the moment. We are very happy.

“After the derby, to play in that way three days later was so difficult. We did well.

“We are happy with the three points.”

“We didn’t talk about the record before the game to be honest.

“We go game by game to win and you saw that today.

“Apart from the victory, we are playing really good football. For that, the fans are enjoying it and we are happy for that.

“On Saturday, we play Tottenham and we have to be focused. They are a very good side so we will see.”

Pep Guardiola: “Today I am so happy with our players. We need the whole squad to compete until the end of the season.

“I am so happy with David Silva. He is so sharp and I am happy for his goals. Now we must focus on Tottenham on Saturday.

“We have a desire to play well – to keep the ball as much as possible and regain it when we don’t have it. We like to play for the fans and everyone has effort.”

Manchester City have picked up a total of 49 points from a possible 51 – having only dropped points during a 1-1 draw against Everton in August.
