Ferland Mendy, a French left-back now playing for Real Madrid, is rumoured to have an uncertain future with the club, which has led to Manchester City mulling about the possibility of signing him.

According to reports, Real Madrid is eager to acquire Josko Gvardiol, a standout performer at the World Cup, and the club is prepared to release Ferland Mendy in order to make room on their roster for the Croatian defender.

As a result, Mendy has become available in the market, and reports indicate that Manchester City, who really could do with a new left-back, are looking into the possibility of purchasing Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola’s side have predominantly used one of Nathan Ake or Joao Cancelo as the left-back this season. They did sign Sergio Gomez but the player has not really made many appearances.

Although Ake and Cancelo do a fine job playing in that position, the club would benefit greatly from making a purchase of a natural left-back who mostly plays in that position. This would be an excellent acquisition.

However, Ferland Mendy is not the type of player that would work particularly well in the system that Manchester City uses. It’s possible that Pep Guardiola won’t be happy with this signing because the player isn’t very good moving forward and this isn’t the type of player he prefers. It is in everyone’s best interest if City do not pursue this, and we should also avoid participating in this particular signing.
