Pablo-Mari-Flamengo

Manchester City has completed their first sale of the summer transfer window after central defender Pablo Mari joined Brazilian side Flamengo in a £1.3 million deal.

Ever since Pep Guardiola has taken charge of Manchester City he has created a monster of a team which is steamrolling clubs in England. The Citizens smashed the Premiership in 2017/18, taking it by storm as they amassed a staggering 100 points in the process leaving no competition.

However, in 2018/19 season, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were in close contention as they finished only one solitary point behind Guardiola’s City team that still won the Premier League with 98 points. Having won the Premier League title for the second season in a row, Manchester City also became the first team in the history of England to complete a domestic treble as the won the FA Cup and League Cup.

This summer, Manchester City have to strengthen their squad even further to ensure that they keep up the high-intensity football to continue winning titles. Spanish midfielder Rodri completed a move from Atletico Madrid to the City of Manchester Stadium but in order to make his team more efficient, Guardiola wants to offload a few players as well and the club has completed their first sale of the summer.

Pablo Mari has become the first player to leave Manchester City this summer as he made a move to Flamengo earlier this week. The 25-year-old center back arrived at Manchester City back in 2016 from Gimnastic but did not play a single game for the Premier League club over three seasons.

Mari spent one season on loan at Girona, NAC Breda and Deportivo La Coruna respectively but the defender was considered surplus at City and could not get a place in the first team squad.
