Manchester City To Let Another Defender Leave?

Premier League champions Manchester City are considering the option of either keeping or selling Brazilian full-back Danilo in this upcoming summer transfer window.

Pep Guardiola is writing his name in the history books with his achievements with Manchester City over the past two years. The Spanish boss became the first manager to ever win a domestic treble in England as he bagged the Premiership, FA Cup, and League Cup this season.

However, City still needs to maintain that level on consistency and intensity if they want to be considered as one of the greatest teams of this generation. To do so, the English giants need to offload and purchase players according to their requirements.

Manchester City is now in a position where they are planning on whether to sell or keep Danilo.

The defender arrived at the City of Manchester Stadium back in 2017 from La Liga club Real Madrid. Danilo has spent two years at City making a total of 60 appearances across all competitions.

But the 27-year-old has not nailed down a starting berth under Guardiola and is usually used as a deputy full back and more often than not make an appearance off the bench.

In order to play regular football, Danilo should leave Manchester City but the Citizens will allow a move to materialize only if they find a suitable replacement. City is targeting a move for Juventus man Joao Cancelo this summer in a €44 million bid.

One other reason for Danilo to stay at Manchester is the fact that he is versatile and can operate in the left back position as well. With Frenchman Benjamin Mendy out injured for major parts of the season, Danilo does a decent job slotting in that spot.

Danilo still has three years left on his current deal with Manchester City and is linked with a move to Serie A club Inter Milan.
