Manchester City are planning for a busy summer window, but it looks like Maximo Perrone won’t be part of the first-team picture just yet.
The £8 million Argentine midfielder is reportedly set to continue his development at Italian club Como 1907, where Cesc Fabregas wants to keep him for another season on loan. Perrone joined Como last summer and has made 22 appearances so far despite a mid-season injury — showcasing his technical quality, defensive awareness, and maturity beyond his years.
Fabregas wants him, and Perrone is fully on board
Como have confirmed their place in Serie A for next season after a strong campaign under Fabregas, who is now preparing to build a squad capable of surviving in the top flight. Maximo Perrone is expected to be a key piece of that plan.
The 21-year-old has adapted well to Italian football and developed a strong working relationship with Fabregas — a midfield legend himself. That connection is proving crucial in discussions over his future, and Perrone has already made it clear where he stands.
“There are agents, representatives, I don’t know anything. As far as I’m concerned, I want to stay here, grow and learn more with Como,” Perrone said earlier this year.
“I want to give a hand to my teammates and I’m happy to stay with Cesc. I have an excellent relationship with him. I hope my future is here with Como.”
With the player pushing for continuity, Man City appear open to letting the loan run for another season — especially with Rodri returning from injury, new arrival Nico Gonzalez already in the mix, and further midfield recruitment expected in the summer.
Inter Milan monitoring the situation
While Como remain favourites to retain Perrone, reports suggest that Inter Milan are watching closely and may consider a permanent move. The Italian giants have a track record of signing emerging talents and could test Manchester City’s stance if they come forward with a formal bid.
But as things stand, all roads point toward another season in Como for Perrone — a place where he’s trusted, growing, and making the kind of progress that Man City want to see from their top young prospects.
