Tonight’s game between Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City is of huge importance to both clubs as it has a bearing on how they finish in the group. A draw for Man City would be enough to seal top spot in the group while Dortmund needs two more points to qualify although should Sevilla beat Copenhagen, a point will be enough. The game will also be an emotional one for Erling Haaland who will be making a return to Signal Iduna Park for the first time since moving on in July.

MATCH EXPECTATIONS

Dortmund come into this game on the back of a convincing 5-0 win against Stuttgart over the weekend and look to be finally shifting gears. England midfielder, Jude Bellingham who has scored in four consecutive champions league games, looks like a danger coming into this game having netted a brace over the weekend. With just two games to play, the yellow and blacks will be hoping to secure qualification to the next stage with a game to spare. Avoiding defeat in this game will make the trip to Copenhagen less nervy as the group phase draws to an end.

For Manchester City, a point from this game secures the top spot but Pep Guardiola’s mentality will not be to come for just a point. After dropping points against Copenhagen last time out, there will be no room for complacency as they would like to wrap up the top spot and potential rest some players as the World Cup draws even nearer. Erling Haaland’s amazing start to life in England continued as he netted against Brighton and he would hope he can continue that form against his former club in the stadium where he became a hero.
