Ederson Moares has a spoon-fed opportunity to grab the absence of Alisson Becker as an advantage and seal his place as Brazil’s first choice keeper. The Manchester City keeper will lead the way between the posts for Brazil in the international break as the first choice keeper of Brazil, Becker is injured and won’t be available.

The FIFA Goalkeeper of the Year will miss Brazil’s game against Peru and Colombia that will give Ederson a chance to prove his mettle. The City keeper will face competition fromBarcelona’s Ter Stegen, yet it is the former that will be given a green between the posts.

Talking about the probability of getting a chance on the pitch and also an opportunity to get the better of Becker, Ederson said;

“I think the three of us were the best, but I see Alisson one step ahead,” he said, via Goal.

“He was great in the Premier League, won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and had a great Copa America as well.”

“So I think whoever wins will be deserving and I’m happy for two Brazilian goalkeepers to reach this level.”

“We all know the great period that Alisson is living. And I’m having a good time too. Of course, these are opportunities,” the former Benfica keeper added.

“As a player you must be prepared for everything. I train as if I am always playing, which makes it easier for me to be used. I hope to make the best of the opportunities I have here and I’ll give my best.”

This is the best time for Ederson to grab the golden opportunity. It’s time for Ederson to make Alisson his deputy rather than being one of Becker’s. With the Liverpool star sidelined due to calf-injury, Ederson should impress the Brazilian coach and the fans to seal his place in the starting XI of the club.
