Manchester City continued their successful run of 2019 with a rather convincing win against Schalke in Round-of-16 meet last night at Etihad Stadium. The Citizens were leading the tie with an undue advantage of 3 away goals as compared to Schalke’s 2 home goals.

A tale of setbacks this Champions League has been, many stacked the odds on Schalke’s win, but forgot the fact that the Germans were facing the indisputable and invincible Manchester City squad in their own den. And at home, we all have witnessed the ruthless facet of a City squad where they have rarely won a game with goal difference of less than 2.

Last night, the second leg finished with a total of 12 goals scored among both teams, and how much did Manchester City score? 10 of the 12 were scored by this English clubs with 7 being netted yesterday. The start was not as dominating but the firing began in 32nd minute via Sergio Aguero and did never cease.

The home fans went blazing when Aguero scored his second goal of the night and then few minutes later the third being scored by Leroy Sane before City sending the visitors into the dressing room, upset, distressed and HUMILIATED. Little did they know that they will have to come back out in the second half to add fuel to fire. The game ended with a spectacular scoreline of 7-0 in the favour of City.

Was this the first time City won by such a huge margin? Absolutely not, they have made a knack of winning games with utmost ease and pure dominance. Since the dawn of this season, City began their goal rush in the Premier League game against Huddersfield, cruising to victory with a 6-1 scoreline.

This was a warning for all the low-key sides that they better find a way to weather the storm coming fast and soon. City’s next victim were Cardiff City who went down 5-0 which was followed by a humiliation to Burnley with the same scoreline.

In the Champions League, City cemented a 6-0 win in the group stages against Shaktar Donetsk. City then welcomed the new year with a 7-0 win against Rotterham in the FA Cup meet before registering a thumping 9-0 victory over Burton in Semi-final of Carabao Cup that City later clinched.

Not only were City convinced with humiliating small names but also left all eyebrows raised when they disgraced one of the big names of Premier League, Chelsea with a 6-0 win. And now with a 7-0 victory over Schalke, City has announced for further fury to come.

Manchester City have now made a liking for harassing the opponents, along with achieving the improbable, feeling the intangible and glorifying the unachievable.
