Manchester City closely monitors the progress of 18-year-old Ajax talent, Gabriel Misehouy. As reported by Algemeen Dagblad via Soccernews, Man City is actively interested in acquiring Misehouy’s services. Hailing from the OSV and Ajax youth systems, Misehouy ascended through Ajax’s reserves, captaining the U17 team before signing his initial professional contract with Ajax in September 2021.

Primarily playing as a number 10, Gabriel Misehouy displays versatility, comfortably maneuvering into deeper midfield positions or the left-wing, showcasing his skill and earning accolades in the academy circuit.

Having spent 11 years within Ajax’s development structure since 2012, Misehouy’s progression through the ranks has been notable. His impact was highlighted in the UEFA Youth League, where he notched three goals and an assist in four matches, including a goal against Liverpool’s Under-19s.

His professional debut with Jong Ajax in an Eerste Divisie match in February 2022 marked the start of his senior-level experience. Over the last 15 months, he’s been an integral part of the Under-21 squad, impressing with increased playing time and consistent performances.

In the ongoing campaign, Misehouy continues to shine, contributing significantly with five goals and two assists for the Under-21s, despite Ajax’s inability to secure victories in these matches. A total of 39 appearances with contributions to 12 goals underlines his impact, with seven coming in the current season across eight matches.

Gabriel Misehouy, of Dutch and Ghanaian descent, has received recognition as a youth international for the Netherlands. He earned his first senior squad call-up for an Eredivisie fixture in September but remained an unused substitute in Ajax’s 3-1 loss to FC Twente.

Amidst Ajax’s struggles in the Eredivisie, there’s a growing concern that they could lose Misehouy, given his contract expires at the end of the current season. His standout performances have attracted substantial interest, with several prominent clubs eyeing his potential acquisition.

Manchester City has emerged as a serious contender for Misehouy’s signature, expressing a keen interest in the player’s future. The club’s intentions are known to both Misehouy and Ajax, as they closely follow his situation, particularly with the possibility of pre-contract negotiations looming if a new deal isn’t reached.

There’s added significance to City’s pursuit as their former youth scout, Kelvin de Lang, now serving as Ajax’s chief scout, remains involved. With Misehouy’s contract negotiations uncertain and City intensifying their interest, Ajax faces mounting pressure to secure the young talent’s commitment.

Man City perceives Gabriel Misehouy as a significant prospect for the future, potentially even succeeding Kevin De Bruyne. His ability to score goals and create opportunities aligns well with Pep Guardiola’s style, making Misehouy an attractive prospect for City. Consequently, the likelihood of Ajax securing a new deal with the talented teenager appears increasingly challenging given City’s interest.
