Champions League

What makes Manchester City the favourites to win both the FA CUP & Champions League

Their Mentality! Manchester City are a class apart from every single football club in Europe, hands down. The Citizens have established themselves as the toughest spearheads which every single team would not fancy playing. Rather, there are only a few teams who would not fear Pep Guardiola’s troops.

The Blues side of Manchester have announced themselves as a Champion squad every single year since the Spaniard took over its helm. Yes, Pep was a champion with Barcelona and Bayern Munich as well but with Manchester City he is different altogether. Much more fierce and much more determined to win every trophy at his disposal.

In his seven years at Manchester, Pep Guardiola has already won 10 major trophies which include five Premier League titles. Even in the season that they lost the title to Liverpool they had amassed 81 points. Pep may well complete the season with 12 trophies as he eyes FA Cup and Champions League final in coming two weeks. If so, the 52-year-old will come in the Elite group of very few managers to have won all three titles : FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League.

Pep has orchestrated his group wonderfully and made champions out of every signing that he has made. Yes, there are a few big money spend but there are as many academy graduates and flops turned to stars. The present squad of Pep comprises of Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Ruben Dias, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, Ederson, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, John Stones and many more warming the bench who otherwise would have been a confirmed starters elsewhere.

Every single player that steps into the field relishes an aura of positivity that commands nothing but a win. Recently in an interview Ruben Dias just showcased the lifestyle that Pep has ingrained in their veins. Normally, a team would be satisfied(more than just satisfied) after winning a Premier League but for City,“the job is yet to be completed.”

In an interview with Independent after being asked about how he feels winning the Premier League title, he said: “We’ve not done anything yet.”

“We definitely know what we’re going for and we really want it,” said the centre-back. “But we know if we start to think too far ahead then it will kill us. Our heads are on training. Little by little we think. Just think and do it.”

“It’ll be a tight game,” he said. “A final is a final, it’ll always be tight whatever the odds. It’s a special competition for all of us and a special competition for the country. We want to win it very much.”

“The moment you start losing that fire, that spice for winning trophies then you’re not doing anything at this club,” Dias added. “My passion is still there. We really want to win again.”

Dias words did channel the mentality Pep Guardiola has instilled within his team members. Ruben Dias, one of the five captaincy figures of Pep, added: “Although all of us have done great things, the demand is always very high. It starts mainly from the manager and the demand is always there. No matter what we do, individually or as a team, we’ll be asked for more and more. You have the personal demand of everyone as well. For us to be at the top this long is because everyone has it in himself.”

Manchester City are a weapon not because of an individual’s success or talent but because of the way Pep creates a team out of 11 players that step into the field.

I would be surprised along with million others if Man City are to end the season with anything less than a TREBLE!
