Kalvin Phillips has been subject to ample of speculations owing to his gametime at the Etihad following his highly regarded move from Leeds United.

Following his transfer from Leeds United to Manchester City in 2022, Kalvin Phillips has had a challenging time securing a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup. He has played less than 600 minutes in 21 matches during his first season and has only accumulated 167 minutes in five matches in the current season.

Notably, Pep even preferred young talent Rico Lewis who is originally a full-back over Phillips during Rodri’s absence against Arsenal last weekend.

As per the German magazine SportsBild, Bayern Munich have shown a keen interest in the English international and has ear-marked him as a potential target for the upcoming January transfer window. This interest stems from Thomas Tuchel’s prior request for a new midfielder during the summer transfer window which never came to its recognition after Declan Rice rejected Bayern for a move to Arsenal and that followed Bayern to pounce on Fulham’s João Palhinha, but the deal fell through on deadline day.

While it’s uncertain if Bayern Munich are still considering pursuing Palhinha, the report indicates that Kalvin Phillips’s name has made its way onto Bayern’s list of targets.

Guardiola previously confirmed that Manchester City have held discussions with Phillips about his future during the last transfer window, but he expressed his desire to remain at the Blue side of Manchester.

However, SportBild suggests that Phillips’s stance may change come January as he’s now “probably thinking about a change” come the winter market.
