Leeds United set to make Jack Harrison signing permanent

Leeds United are in pole position to complete the permanent signing of Jack Harrison. The Yorkshire side have had the Manchester City midfielder at the club on loan for the past three seasons. Jack Harrison has been a mainstay in Marcelo Bielsa’s team over the last three seasons, featuring 126 times. The 24-year-old has been with the club in the championship and helped Leeds qualify to play Premier League football in 2020.

Harrison has never featured in a competitive game for Manchester City, spending all of his senior career on loan. His professional career kicked off at Manchester City affiliate football club New York City FC, where he managed to feature 55 times in competitive games for NYC FC. Harrison joined City in January 2018 and was immediately loaned out to Middlesbrough where he featured just 4 times failing to displace regular wingers, Adama Traore and Stewart Downing.

His move to Leeds United on loan sparked life into his career as he featured 42 times and helped Leeds progress to the playoff semi-final, losing to former New York City teammate, Frank Lampard’s Derby County. Ultimately, he re-signed for Leeds and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League and played a key role as the Yorkshire side gave a good account of themselves in the Premier League topflight.

The rumoured fee is £15m which will be a welcome addition to City’s transfer kitty as they seek to sign Harry Kane and Jack Grealish. A sell-on clause is expected to be inserted in the deal, looking critically at Harrison’s talent. The deal is expected to be announced over the next week.
