Pep Guardiola has played down the words of Bernardo Silva and restated his importance to the team amidst rumours linking the Portuguese midfielder with a move to Barcelona.

Silva came out yesterday in and admitted that he was very happy at Manchester City but that he was always open to the possibility of trying a new challenge elsewhere should an opportunity rise for the same.

“I’m 28 years old, I’ll be 29 in the summer, and I have two more years on my Manchester City contract. My contract would end at 31. I will not hide that my goal in the coming years if something good happens elsewhere, will probably be to move to a new project.”

The fact that the Man City midfielder desires to move to Barcelona is no longer a secret. Silva has been heavily linked with the Catalan club in the past and there is no doubt that he will be willing to move to Xavi Hernandez’s team in the future.

Bernardo Silva continues being very important to Manchester City. He is often the link between midfield and attack and thanks to his incredible work rate, he often acts as the link between midfield and defence as well.

Despite the constant exit rumours surrounding him, Pep has never failed to praise the talented midfielder and keep reaffirming his importance to the team and this time was no different.

“He’s a key player, so important on and off the pitch. A guy who can talk, always a nice conversation, always you learn about his humanity, his vision for the club. He’s an incredible player against top sides, incredibly reliable in decisive games he’s always there. Nothing changed about his future, it belongs to him”

Right now, Barcelona don’t have the financial ability to make a deal for Silva happen. Hence, Man City don’t have to be worried about the Portuguese leaving the club for now.
