Chelsea boss Graham Potter has suggested that Senegal shot-stopper Edouard Mendy would miss both games against Manchester City due to not being entirely fit.
Mendy, who has been missing from Chelsea’s games since football restarted following the World Cup break, is still not fully fit yet. Here is what Potter had to say about Mendy’s fitness and his comments seemed to hint that the Senegalese keeper is still some time away from returning. “He’s been training a little bit more than he was. He’s not fully fit at the moment but hopefully the next week or so he will make progress.”
Man City take on Chelsea in consecutive games in the Premier League and in the third round of the FA Cup. These two games will be very crucial for Pep’s team for very contrasting reasons.
Even if Edouard Mendy was fit, it is highly unlikely that he would have started the Premier League game against Man City. It is the cup game that the Senegalese is likely to miss.
Since Potter has taken charge of Chelsea, he has shown a preference to use Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal and to be fair to the Spaniard, he has put in a number of impressive performances in recent times.
Regardless, the absence of Edouard Mendy is something that Man City will be aware of whilst preparing for the game. Let’s hope we manage to emerge victorious in both of them.
