Manchester City have reportedly set their sights on acquiring the “fantastic talent” Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. However, their efforts to bring the versatile midfielder to the Etihad Stadium are encountering significant obstacles, according to insights by Fabrizio Romano with GIVEMESPORT.

In the quest to build upon last season’s triumphant treble and recent winning of the Super Cup, Man City manager Pep Guardiola is actively seeking to rejuvenate his squad before the impending closure of the summer transfer window come next week.

Evening Standard indicates that Crystal Palace are resolute in not permitting Eze’s out that door off Shelurst Park for anything less than a substantial £70 million fee.

Eze has remained on the pitch for every minute of the current season and has emerged as a potential target for Manchester City following their unsuccessful pursuit of West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta.

Guardiola’s intention to reinforce his midfield options by enlisting the services of Eberechi Eze or Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Nunes before the September 1 deadline is well-documented. However, both pursuits are expected to encounter resistance, as Palace exhibits determination in retaining their key players, especially with Liverpool also eyeing Doucoure for similar valuations as Eze.

It is said that Manchester City have diligently observed Eze in action over the past six months and have been notably impressed by his performances. Notably, the one-cap England international significantly augmented his market value with his debut for the national team under the guidance of Gareth Southgate earlier this year.

The prospect of Eze’s £30,000-per-week contract expiring in the summer of 2025 has motivated Manchester City to make their move for the player.

As part of the club’s summer signings, Manchester City have already secured the services of players such as Josko Gvardiol, and Mateo Kovacic.

However, suggests that Manchester City faces a formidable challenge in attempting to sway Crystal Palace into selling Eze during the final days of the transfer window. He highlights the Eagles’ steadfastness in retaining talents like Michael Olise and Cheick via. Talksport, “Eze is a fantastic talent. But Manchester City know that Palace are being very tough in negotiations, as they were with Olise in negotiations with Chelsea. Liverpool asked for information about Doucoure, but Palace want to keep their stars, so it has to be something very big in terms of proposals. Otherwise, it’s going to be difficult to sign their stars in the final days of the window.”

On the outgoings side of things, it appears that Joao Cancelo’s is off the books with reports suggesting that Jorge Mendes is poised to finalize a move to La Liga giants Barcelona. This negotiation could relieve Manchester City of Cancelo’s considerable £250,000-per-week wages off the books.

Eze and Paqueta both looks difficult in all honesty, Wolves can be pushed for Nunes as they need to sell for their FFP problems.
