Barcelona were pursuing Manchester City starlet Eric Garcia over a potential deal to bring the defender back to Catalonia although as per an exclusive report by the Sun, there have been ‘positive talks’ in recent days with the Spaniard set to pen a new five-year deal with the club.
With his current contract expiring at the end of next season, Barcelona were looking to bring him in at Camp Nou, however, no deal will further materialise following positive talks between City’s officials, Eric Garcia and his representatives including Barcelona Carlos Puyol.
There are reports that Garcia will sign a new five-year deal at Etihad which will take his wages to £40,000-a-week from his current £12,000-a-week before performance-related bonuses.
Eric has also made it prospective clear to Pep Guardiola about his desire to stay and is ‘happy with their plans for the future’.
The teen is on an impressive run of form since Premier League’s return last month, partnering alongside Aymeric Laporte against both English giants in Arsenal and Liverpool – two strong games which saw the Cityzens score seven goals, conceding zero.
