Lucas Paqueta to Man City: definitely OFF now…

Lucas-Paqueta-Man-City-deal-off

Something that was much expected after that last bid was turned down, the highly anticipated transfer of Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United to Manchester City has collapsed, as Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has disclosed to GIVEMESPORT.

West Ham United are keen on retaining their prized assets, especially following the sale of Declan Rice as they seek to build on their victorious 2022/23 Europa Conference League campaign.

Manchester City face an unusual predicament with the long-term injury of Kevin de Bruyne which has compelled Guardiola to delve into the transfer market in the eleventh hour, seeking a stopgap solution.

Journalist Paul Brown shared with GIVEMESPORT that the playmaker seemed open to the idea of the transfer, raising hopes of a successful move. Lucas has 13 goal contributions (6 goals and 7 assists) in 43 appearances for West Ham, and played a pivotal role in their European triumph, making him a prized asset for Moyes and the club’s ambitions. It was reported that personal terms for a six-year contract at Etihad Stadium had been agreed upon between Paqueta and Manchester City. However, a significant gap existed between the reported offer and West Ham’s valuation of the player, creating a stumbling block in the negotiations.

Moreover, the transfer deal was further complicated by the revelation that Lucas Paqueta is the subject of a betting investigation by the Football Association (FA) which introduced an element of uncertainty and potentially tarnished the proceedings.

Despite the obstacles, Sky Sports reported that the possibility of a transfer in the January window remains open, indicating that the saga could take a new direction in the future.

Sheth, in conversation with GIVEMESPORT, affirmed that the Brazilian’s transfer to Manchester City is definitively off the table for the current transfer window.
