Spanish club Barcelona are interested in signing talented Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan in the summer on a free transfer upon the expiry of his current contract.
Gundogan has been one of Pep’s most important players for quite some time now but he has seen his prominence decrease this season. It is not that the German has not been at the required level and it is just a consequence of the Spanish tactician’s selection.
The talented midfielder has had a great time in the Premier League. He is responsible for some of the most iconic moments in a Man City shirt in recent times and no one will forget his sensational brace against Aston Villa to get the Cityzens the Premier League last season.
The Barcelona target’s contract expires in the summer and the Spanish club have shown a penchant to do free transfer deals in the recent past to help with their contract situation.
Barcelona have an ageing Busquets in the squad and Gundogan has been used as a six at times in Man City. A player of his quality is a great acquisition on a free transfer and it is easy to understand why Xavi wants him.
This actually sounds like a realistic transfer after all and it will not be surprising to see this happen in the summer. Regardless, Gundogan will always be a cult hero at Etihad.
